How the Index pays

The Index is a Neptune arena where you invest Credits, collect Index Points from defeated brokers, and bank those points at the enemy goal. Higher risk tiers ask for a larger investment and target, but pay more when your team wins.

Solo queue fills the remaining slots with Specters. They help create points and pressure, but they do not follow a perfect banking plan. Your job is to keep control of the timer, collect efficiently, and deposit before Financial Stress turns a profitable carry into a death.

Step 5 min

Quick start: a safe solo round

  1. Choose a risk tier your build can clear without relying on a lucky spawn pattern.
  2. Kill brokers near a route you can repeat, collect their points, and watch your health and timer.
  3. Bank in sensible batches instead of holding points until Financial Stress overwhelms the build.
  4. Pick up loose points created by Specters, but do not chase one point across the entire map.
  5. Protect your own goal when enemy brokers break through.
  6. Finish the target, then decide whether another round is worth the rising enemy level.

Banking, bonuses, and Financial Stress

Carrying points applies Financial Stress, reducing effective health and shields while draining energy. Banking larger batches can award bonus points, but greed has a cost: the carrier becomes easier to kill and less able to power a defensive ability.

Use the bonus table shown in the mission UI as guidance, then bank earlier if your health, energy, or timer demands it. A smaller successful deposit is always worth more than a perfect bonus dropped in enemy territory.

Map control

Learn one circuit between common broker spawns and the enemy goal. Use the minimap to intercept carriers and recover dropped points. If the open-air and indoor tiles feel different, practice them separately instead of expecting one route to fit both.

Working with Specters

Specters create kills, carry points, and sometimes bank at awkward times. Treat their points as extra value, not the foundation of the strategy. You still own timer control and the final scoring pace.

Solo loadouts and KnightFrame slots

A solo build needs durable damage, a fast route, and a plan for Financial Stress. Excalibur Umbra can keep fighting while you use Operator movement or utility, while other durable frames can carry the round through direct weapon damage. Wisp is a useful option for a duo because her reservoirs support both players without slowing the route.

Use weapons that kill brokers consistently as their level rises. If the build only works while energy is full, bank more often or add a recovery plan.

Reference

Broker weapon

Choose a weapon with reliable single-target damage and enough usability to track mobile brokers. Test it beyond the first few kills.

Reference

Optional duo support

A duo can split carrier and support duties, but both players should still be able to defend a goal and recover loose points.

Step Expert

Longer rounds and Prodman runs

Enemy scaling makes every extra round a build check. Bank more conservatively as broker damage rises and leave when kill speed or survival stops being comfortable. For a John Prodman poster attempt, plan for a run that reaches the one-hour mark and verify the current appearance and reward rules before starting.

A long run should be deliberate, not unattended. Stay engaged, defend the goals, and extract cleanly after the intended milestone.

Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Solo Index

You die while carrying: bank smaller batches and rebuild for effective durability under Financial Stress.

The timer keeps collapsing: deposit earlier and intercept enemy carriers instead of clearing random brokers.

Specters hold too many points: recover what they drop, keep scoring yourself, and do not wait for their AI to finish the round.

Later rounds stall: improve single-target damage or extract after the first win until the loadout is ready.
