Section 5 of 12⬡
How Mods Scale Damage
Base damage, multishot, and stacking rules.
The engine applies mod bonuses through specific multiplier layers:
1. Base Damage Mods (Serration, Hornet Strike, Pressure Point)
Damage Multiplier = 1 + (Damage Mod% + Melee Damage%) / 100
These affect ALL damage types proportionally. A +165% Serration means every point of base damage becomes 2.65× as much.
2. Elemental / Physical Mods
Added on top of the scaled base, as described previously.
3. Multishot Mods (Split Chamber, Barrel Diffusion)
Effective Multishot = Base Multishot × (1 + Multishot Mod% / 100)
Extra projectiles each carry the full damage value. +90% multishot = 1.9 effective shots per trigger pull.
4. Critical Mods
Covered in the next section.
5. Fire Rate / Attack Speed Mods
Fire Rate = Base Fire Rate × (1 + (Fire Rate% + Attack Speed%) / 100)
6. Stacking Rule
Mods of the same type (e.g., two +damage mods) are additive with each other. Mods of different types (damage × crit × multishot × elemental) are multiplicative with each other. This is why diversifying your mod types is better than stacking the same stat.
